Castaña is a London-based Mexican architect and editor. She graduated from the MA Situated Practice at the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL after receiving her BArch at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. Her work is developed through the design of books, installations, exhibitions and curatorial proposals. Her research focuses on domestic workers spaces in Latin America, and pre-Hispanic ephemeral architecture in Mexico. She has participated in both national and international exhibitions such as the Mexican Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale, and Un Lugar: Murales del Territorio presented at the gallery Jose Luis Benlliure at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico). Her 2021 exhibition Temazcal was presented in London, both at the Mexican Embassy’s Cultural Pop-Up and the Crypt Gallery in Euston. In 2022 she co-founded Eje, a publication focused on promoting critical discourses around architecture, territory, space and culture.
